Sciences Po Lille is happy to welcome Juan Fernando Lopez Aguilar for a conference 

Juan Fernando López Aguilar, former Minister of Justice in the government of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, current MEP (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party). Juan Fernando López Aguilar holds a Ph.D. in Law from the University of Bologna.

 He has been for many years a Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. He also holds a master's degree in Law and Diplomacy from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.

Between 1996 and 2007 he was a MP, serving as Spanish Socialist Workers' Party’s spokesperson on home affairs.

He was Minister of Justice in the cabinet of Zapatero (2004/06)

He has been MEP since 2009 (member of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home affairs, which he chaired during first term until 2014)

Since 2014, López Aguilar has been serving as vice-chairman of the parliament’s delegation to the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly. He has also taken part in monitoring mission for the Ukrainian parliamentary election in 2012, and the Tajikistani parliamentary elections 2010.

 

THEME

In the framework of the class Corporate criminal liability in the European systems (Dr Antonio Del Sole), Juan Fernando López Aguilar will present a conference on "What space for rights, liberties and justice in time of crisis in Spain and Europe?"

The debate with the students will be an opportunity to talk about the current political and legal situations and contexts in Spain and Europe
