Last month, on the occasion of the International Francophonie Day, Sciences Po Lille organized a competition: “La Francophonie des expressions”. We asked our international students to give us their favorite expression in French, and it was a real success!

Lots of them were happy to share with us words, sentences, expressions, and to celebrate the French language.

All these expressions were very interesting, and sometimes quite funny, but one especially held our attention:

« être chaud comme une bottine » (which means « to be very drunk »)

Our student Gabrielle Koetsier suggested it.

Gabrielle is coming from the University of the Fraser Valley, in Canada, and is currently spending the Spring semester at Sciences Po Lille.
