Welcome to Sciences Po Lille's Summer School 2018 !

The cultural programme, as well as the welcome services (accommodation & restauration included), will be proposed by the International Academy, the Summer University for international students at the Communauté d’Universités et Établissements Lille Nord de France.


RECEPTION PROCEDURE
Arrival in France and transfer
The COPAIN association will welcome you at Paris Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle Airport on Friday 22nd of June at 12.00, and then drive you by bus to your hall of residence. Florian VIRLY & YAN Zheng will be present on the spot and during the trip to answer your first questions.

HOUSING
International Residence Hall
Cité scientifique - Avenue Paul Langevin - Villeneuve d'Ascq.
You will be staying in a 18 square meter furnished room, with private bathroom and unlimited wifi access.
Meals: Your breakfasts, lunches and dinners have been booked throughout your stay : these will be delivered to your hall of residence, served in university canteen, or in town.

LOCAL TRANSPORTATION
On your first day in Lille you will be given a TRANSPOLE travel card. This card will enable you to have unlimited travel around Lille European Metropole area by underground, bus, tram and train network.

CATERING
All your meals (breakfasts, lunches and dinners) will be booked throughout your stay.

Monday 25th of June : Welcome Meeting
We will be glad to welcome to introduce you the team, the teachers and visit the building.  During the afternoon, you will visit Lille's old town on a scooter!

Wednesday 27th of June: Paper Chase
Another way to discover some place of Lille with our International team!

Tuesday 3rd of July : Pic Nic
At lunch time, we will gather in a park to eat some specialities from the region.

Friday 6th of July : Field Trip to Paris
We will leave Lille by Train to go to Paris and visit the French National Assembly, have lunch time in a "brasserie" and then you will have a free time to visit the city.

Tuesday 10th of July : Cooking Lessons
Learn to cook a very tasty meal with a chef!

Wednesday 11th of July: Ch'ti evening
You will gather with students grome another Summer School in Lille in an "estaminet" to enjoy good company and local food of the north of France.

Friday 13th of July : Field trip to Brussels
We will go there by bus, visit the European Parliament, eat lunch all together and then you will have a free time to visit Brussels.

Monday 16th of July : Visit of Le Louvre Lens
You won't find any Mona Lisa there but some other very nice pieces of work

Tuesday 17th of July : Closing Coktail
Time to say goodbye!

Last day of courses: Tuesday 17th July 2018
Return to Paris and to your country: Wednesday 18th July 2018

COURSES
France Excellence Sciences Po Lille's Summer School consists of intensive short-term program with different courses such as Law, Economics and Politics.
The 2018 Summer School proposes a programme around 2 tracks:
- International - EU Affairs
- French Language & Society
Students will have the opportunity to divide their time in Lille between modules which focus on International and European affairs, including issues such as the crisis in Climate change, European identity and values.
The courses in French language aims to enhance and perfect their language skills as well provide some understanding of the contemporary aspects of French society.

CULTURAL PROGRAMME:

This module aims to develop students' ability to demonstrate some understanding of the French language, as well as speak, read and write French with relative proficiency. Professors will help students to develop communication skills through regular class discussions, one-on-one conversations, role plays and oral presentations with classmates. The aim of this course is that students will gain fluency in French while increasing their knowledge of France.

- Contemporary French society (8x1,5h soit 12h): This seminar intends to present the main aspects of the French society, compared with other European industrialized countries. Indeed, the main objective is to analyze how the French society functions, taking into account some of the main historical steps which established the basis of the welfare system, of the labor market, the role of women in society, the system of education, etc. Comparisons with other countries will be encouraged during all the seminar and students will be also encouraged to present the functioning of their own country. At the end of the seminar, students have to be able to understand some of the important issues in France and what is mainly at stake in contemporary debates.
